Also Coming This Week on the Xbox Live Arcade

Also Coming This Week on the Xbox Live Arcade
Written Tuesday, July 22, 2008 by Alan Pettit

Man, I wish these announcements would all come at once.  In addition to the already announced 1942: Joint Strike and both DLC packs for Puzze Quest and N+, the marketplace will also be graced with some game called Go! Go! Break Steady, which to be perfectly honest I had never heard of before the achievements were posted and didn't bother to investigate once they were. Reading the official description doesn't exactly move me. Pun intended.

"Take on DJ Scruffy and the Beatniks in this combination rhythm and puzzle game. Featuring original gameplay, a unique visual style, and six amazing characters breakdancing to 20 finger-tapping songs, Go! Go! Break Steady is the ultimate hybrid of two popular and challenging genres. Will Hydro and his "All City Crew" become the Break Steady Tournament Champs and take home the most prizes? The answer depends on your own rhythm and smarts. Play it solo, team up with your friends, or play online to see who has the real Break Steady "skillz!"

  • Innovative game: This original game combines the best of the music and puzzle game genres.
  • Music and dance: The game features a unique visual style with characters break dancing to the beats of twenty new songs.
  • Multiplayer: Enjoy both multiplayer versus and cooperative local and multiplayer modes.
  • Independent design: The game is the debut title from Vancouver-based independent game studio Little Boy Games."
This will also be costing 800MSP. My guess, it will probably also be hitting the list of games to be deactivated.

Innovative doesn't always mean enjoyable. :p

Just look at concept cars from a few years ago. Those were some of the damn ugliest things the motor industry has ever produced, but hey, they were innovations!

But really, this does look sort of dumb...

Have you noticed how long it's been since we heard anything about game delisting? Makes me wonder if the New Xbox Live Experience is going to do away with the percieved shopping difficulties so that it's not necessary to delist anything. Either that, or miraculously, not a single game has yet managed to meet all the criteria. I'm pretty sure they're planning to improve the shop a lot though, so we'll see.
The game definately screams DEMO FIRST, but I wouldn't automatically pass final judgement without trying it. So let us know what you think of it tomorrow, after you've tried it, okay?

@ StuffGamer:

I want to get this game, but you BET I'll be demoing it first. The only thing I haven't demo'd before purchase was Buku Sudoku. I was looking forward to Puzzle Quest for months, and I still demo'd that one. Other games I've wanted were disappointments. Hopefully Go! Go! will not let me down. :-

I'll get the trial and then almost certainly not buy the full version. Yet another 800 point rip-off.

i cant stand all this constant crap that is just being shoveled into the furnace so to speak, why dosn't microsft along with all these other companies stop making constant releases of garbage that we obviosly wont buy every week and take the time to make an original, good game and stop making 5 new versions of the same game by 5 different companies.

From what I understand, Go!Go! Break Steady has basically been developed by two guys who quit their jobs and decided to start up a game company (as well as hiring artists for the the project), so I believe its a solid effort to get your first project accepted as an XBLA game.

That being said, the game doesn't really appeal to me either but I do wish them success and I'll download the trial at least.
