E3 2008: Tales of Vesperia Demo Available For Some

E3 2008: Tales of Vesperia Demo Available For Some
Written Thursday, July 17, 2008 by Dan Webb

So a short while ago a press release landed on my lap saying that as part of E3's Bringing it Home malarky, Namco's Tales of Vesperia had a demo on Xbox Live. My usual routine with press releases like this is to then check Major Nelson... Nothing. Oh, that's because he's at E3. So I fire up my 360 and check... Nothing. I say to myself "Well, I'm not at E3, so there must be something wrong" (remember I'm in Europe here).

My next step was to speak to someone over in North America and I am informed that it is available over there. Canada, not entirely sure, but America, yes. The press release bangs on about North America a lot so I would say it is available to Canada as well. So there you have it, more miscommunicated news broken down for you guys. When we have clear clarification on regions and such, we'll let you know.

The demo is said to be under 300mb and the full game will be available on August 26th. Let us know what it's like.

Well, it's been available in Japan for quite a while now, and we in the US just got it... Staggered video game releases (and demos) annoy me, even though it's Europe/Australia that usually get hit by them.

As for the demo, seems good. Unfortunately, this might do worse than Eternal Sonata (another very good game, plays similar to Tales) simply due to lack of exposure. I'll pick this up once the price goes down.

Exactly like Tales of Symphonia for Gamecube. I was in love with that game, I'll probably buy this one, just for the fact it's one a few RPG's that I like.

The demo for this was released on the japanese marketplace a good few months ago I think. Downloaded it but didn't really get too far without getting bored

Looks like only people that loved ToS will like this one. I doubt it will be better than ToS anyways.

@squirreltakos:

haha, that's what I was thinking. I wish I had a Wii soley for the purpose of the new ToS coming out.

But I hardly got bored with ToS, I doubt I will with this one, although the demo wasn't quite good.

I didn't like the demo much at all and I've enjoyed the JRPG genre in the past.

It's a good JRPG. It's exactly like Tales of Symphonia, and that's a reason to buy this game alone. I still think the Achievements are crappy, though.

The demo was fun and its been out in Japan for awhile. They were going to release the demo along with the Japanese demo release but everytime you tried the download link it would error out. The demo was ridiculously short for me and wish it was better but thats what expected of a demo anyways... leaves you wanting more. I'll definitely get this game.

Wow i played the shit out of Symphonia back on NGC and this game just ruins the formula. No jumping, controls suck, and the characters are stupid.

Liked the demo, probably getting the game for the sake of having another Tales of game. Wish the demo could have put us in the beginning of the game, though..

The game is pretty good. If you've ever played Tales of Symphonia its pretty much like that with upgraded visuals of course and diff moves and such. I dont know the new features yet but that games seems fun.

Played the demo on day 1 and didn't enjoy it much. Seemed extremely typical, even if the graphics were at super human levels.

Just create an American XBL account using an American Windows Live email account.

I have an American, Europe, Japan, Korean and an Australian account and I live in Australia. My main account "ezekiel 08" is American as that's what my Hotmail address was. Now I always have the US marketplace and MS refuse to change it to the Australian one (where I live!). MS suck!

BLASPHEMY #19!!! Although I admit that it does reek a bit to much of an FPS for the hardcore Fallout fanboys like myself... Fallout... THAT was an RPG! Baldur's Gate... NWN... These were RPG's... Fallout 3... Oblivion with nukes anyone?

im gonna download this once its available either on the uk marketplace or once the us marketplace decides to let everyone download that isnt on a gold account in the us. it does look abit iffy on the character models side though but im sure thats more to dop with the style of game there going for or the world design.
