Member of the Month - Jan, 2007: Zef

We would firstly start by wishing everyone, wherever you are in the world, a Happy New Year, lets hope 2007 is a prosperous one, both individually and as a community.

Back to business then. Another month, another member… Hmmmm, seems like I’ve said that before. This month we have shone the spot light on a fairly new member and our first Brit. The member in question has only been around since October but has been helpful where he can and entertaining. So no surprisingly that the interview was entertaining as well. Anyway, on to our MoM, congrats to Zef

Lets start by finding out a bit more about the man behind the GamerTag.
I'm an 18 year old blonde cheerleader, I like havin slumber parties and pillow fights with my girlfriends. Well, I'm 18 anyway. Studying Physics, Chemistry and Biology at A-Level with no bloody idea what to do next after University. If anyone needs to brush up their particle physics you need only ask. I'm amazingly modest, possibly the most modest person in the whole Universe ever.

What is your gaming setup like?
In a word: messy. My 360 has pride of place on my desk right next to the mighty flat screen TV of size unknown. My other consoles have been banished underneath the desk because they aren't being played that much anymore. At the moment my 360 is in the upright position, or on it's side depending on how you think about it.

What is your favorite game on the 360?
That honour has switched more times than Paris Hilton's underwear. Burnout is a long time favorite even though I am not that big a fan of racing games. Burnout took the bad side of driving and turned it into the focus of the game, which for me is a good thing. Oblivion is another favorite because of sheer scale and beauty, you can play that game for hours on end and not get a whole lot done. COD2 would probably be one of my favorite FPS games, but I only really got into the single player. I try not to play favorites though, the selection of decent games on the 360 is vast indeed.

And the game that makes you scream?
Burnout, even though it is one of my favorites. The CPU players cheat so much it is unreal but that just makes the kill even more enjoyable. COD3 could contend for the top spot too, invincible Nazis and non-solid walls are a nightmare. Online was terrible as well, if you could even get into a game that is. The new patch that has been released claims to have fixed any problems, I may pick up the game again and see if it is any better. Geometry Wars is the arcade game that I despise the most, but I'm just crap at it.

What achievement are you most proud of?
Either COD2, War Hardened; Hexic, Big Cheese or Amped 3, Supreme Snow God. The latter and former were nearly cause for a wig-fitting. COD2 was pretty frustrating to complete on veteran, I never bothered on hard because it would just take too long to do both. When I finally reclaimed the beaches of Normandy from the tyrannical grasp of the German rule I almost jumped for joy. Amped 3 was more or less the same only with less Nazis, some of the challenges were evil. I'd probably be more proud of some of my Hexic high scores than the achievements.

Which achievement is the next on the hit list for you?
GRAW Master of Ceremonies. I don't like the GRAW achievements so I left them out for a while, I want to get rid of the game so I figured it would be best to finish some more, the new ones are at least achieveable. After that I'd go for Mr.Whiskers on Superman Returns, your typical collecting achievement where it all goes horribly wrong when you find out you missed one out and have no idea which one it is.

What was the last thing you downloaded from the Arcade?
Hardwood Backgammon, the series has been top notch and I was looking to expand my collection. I'd recommend Spades if anyone is looking for a good game that is easy to play. I hear a Worms game is on the horizon, so that would be next.

Do you get games mainly for achievements, or for gameplay?
It depends on the game really. The first batch of games I bought were purely for the game. As of late I have rented games to help out my team in the gamerscore league, but still games I wanted to play anyway. If it is a new game then I'd get it for the gameplay, if it is fairly old then chances are it is purely for the achievements. Although it is always nice to have 1000 points for any game.

Is the 360 your only console currently? Do you have plans for any more?
The only 'next-gen' console. I have my army of fossil consoles on stanby if my 360 breaks, ranging from a Master System II to an N64. If I was tempted to buy another console I would go for a next gen one, probably the Wii. Twilight Princess looks pretty good but how long the novelty of the controller lasts is a factor, as well as how many decent games Nintendo churns out. The PS3 has no chance, I already have a toaster so there is no need for one. Most of the formerly exclusive big hitters are in the 360's arsenal anyway.

Whats the next game that you will be getting?
Originally Lost Planet was going to be one game I bought for 2007, but it has been too long for my liking. Bioshock, Too Human and The Darkness all look like they will be great games so I may pre-order those, but it will be a while until they are released.
Chances are that Worms will be the next game I buy, but who doesn't like Worms? (The game not the parasites)

Thanks again to Zef for this month’s interview. So, till next month, keep an eye on your PM inbox as you might, just might be selected for February’s Member of the Month.
